They join Emma Bunton, Ronan Keating and Robbie Williams in a parody of the TV show that followed the manufacture of a pop group. Rowan Atkinson is the popmeister they must impress at audition.

Lumley attends as her Absolutely Fabulous character Patsy Stone and chokes through a version of Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water, while Winslet performs a version of My Heart Will Go On from her movie, Titanic.

Many a parade is rained on: Robbie Williams' rendition of Angels is hailed as "pathetic, really pathetic."

Young Jamie Bell tries to impress the panel of judges with a dance routine and gets told: "He should be a coal miner, not a dancer!"
