The BT Speaking Clock message has been re-recorded specially for Comic Relief by Lenny Henry who delivers the time with: "At the third squeak the time from Comic Relief will be (time) and X seconds/precisely." The pips (in the usual message referred to as 'strokes') are replaced with a very red nose-esque squeak. Lenny's voice provides a different version every day, and can be heard simply by dialling 123. The call costs 10p and it all goes to Comic Relief. Up to £200,000 will be raised. Normal service is resumed at noon on 24 March 2003 when usual voice Brian Cobby returns. Lenny is only the third person to provide the BT Speaking Clock in its 67 year history. |
