I cut out the ad from the paper advertising your farewell tour here in Adelaide at the end of July and sat by my computer with the phone at the appointed day and time the tickets went on sale. The phone was permanently engaged and the ticket website unobtainable. despite sitting all morning wearing my fingers out on the redial button and computer keyboard. Imagine my bitter disappointment when both the website and phone lines announced a complete sellout after lunch!
My daughter has been working here in Adelaide for about 7 years and at great expense and an 18 month wait I was able to get a visa and arrived last November. I lived and worked in the Wadebridge area in Cornwall for 21 years where I brought up my children. I have been reading 'Dear Fatty' which has made me very nostalgic for Cornwall and Plymouth and one of our favourite haunts was Rock. What a wonderful book.
I am still upset at not being able to obtain any tickets for your final tour here in Adelaide. Do you have access to any tickets that I might be able to buy for my daughter and me? I would be willing to pay for them just to get to see you live. I would be extremely grateful if you could help me

My mum sat at the computer for hours trying to get tickets to your show in Adelaide, and when I came home that afternoon mum told me that we were going to see your show, four rows from the front! I literally started dancing around the house. Then I ran outside and yelled with delight. Stirred th neighbours up a bit though. I can't wait to see you guys!

All I can say is that I am the proud owner of a ticket to the first show in Melbourne and can't believe its only a month away now. I have been waiting for this tour for almost 10 years and can say that it is a dream of mine come true!! Thank you Dawn French & Jennifer Saunders for the many laughs over the years and for visiting Australia.....finally!!!

Soooo excited for tonight. We are driving up to Newcastle to see the show. We live south of Sydney and all tickets were sold for Sydney and Canberra so managed to get Newcastle - so what if its a 3 hrs drive, it will be worth it I am sure..!!!!

I laughed so hard last night here in Newcastle that my muscles are still aching today (or maybe it's because I fell over in the garden yesterday retrieving a ball for the dog???).

The Newcastle Entertainment Centre was PACKED, and we weren't close enough to see all the facial expressions, but it was a great show nonetheless.

Too bad it was the first AND last time for a tour here!

I have just returned from seeing the show in Canberra and loved it! I was also not close enough to see the facial expressions, but it was still a great evening. I was able to meet them at the stage door afterwards and they were there to meet fans and sign autographs.

Though only 16, I love your work. WOW. But no really. Brilliant stuff. Such a privilege it was to obtain seats at your very first show in Australia.
I was going to hide in a heavy shadow and jump you on your way out of the NEC. Kidnap you ninja stile. But I thought not to deprive the world of your wisdom.

Such a legend Dawn is, shielding her family from the deathly ink and flash of the paparazzi. Family and friends are a right indeed, however also a privilege. We are truly, quite insignificant in this massive universe of ours.

My daughter and I saw the show last night in Canberra - it was great - so well done.
As others have said, it would have been great to see more facial expressions - the big screens should have been used for that.
It was good to see the Canberra crowd get into the show - Canberra has a bad reputation for being stuffy and undemonstrative , lol.

Saw them last night at the first night of their Sydney season and they were absolutely brilliant. The theatre erupted in laughter and every move and skits they did. Especially loved the Mamma Mia skit with Joanna Lumley.....hilarious!!! Also met them after the show as they left the theatre. What joy it was to see them live FINALLY!!!! I'll never ever forget it!!!!

Hi, love u guys on TV. Took my 80 year old Mum along in Newcastle last Friday night. Really disappointed with Venue. Seated floor, could hardly see anything. Many people were being reseated. We finally moved, closer to see faces, but then unable to view big screen. Would have been much better at the Civic Theatre, or at least have big screens either side of main stage.

Loved the show on Wednesday at the Capitol. I thought the last sketch of the 2 old guys was fantastic and am still laughing to myself 3 days later. Loved it and the feeling of having a great big belly laugh was terrific. Have a great time in Oz.

Was at the show at the Capitol last night, awesome to see you for the first and final time. Loved it start to finish. Wish I could go again when I'm in QLD but can't afford the tix.

I purchased my tickets back in March...and looked forward for months to a night of crazy skits and laughter (a well needed stress relief at this intense time)....I was definitely rewarded.... so I thought!....

After stupidly forgetting to buy a program on the night, it ate away at me the next day so I decided to venture back to the capital yesterday to try to get one....

Thank you to the wonderful englishman who sold me one and made a great suggestion...

Ladies, my husband and I saw you last night at the Capitol in Sydney and laughed until we cried...until you sang Thank You For the Music and then I sobbed like a baby at the concept that this would be the one and only time of seeing you live (there were lots of sniffles around us too so I wasn't the only softie!). Thank God you did the final skit to make me laugh again so I didn't have to emerge too raccoon-eyed into the street!

Seriously though, you are the two most brilliant and funny women on the planet, and Dawn especially we love, love, love you...you are the most beautiful creature in show business. And sod Madonna if she wouldn't perform with you, just shows she was too in awe of true talent and knows you'd show her up ;o) Love you guys, thank you so much for an incredible night, wish it wasn't the last! I thought of sending this the old fashioned fan mail way, but knew of your inter-webbing indulgence so thought perhaps you may just stumble upon this; particularly if the administrators were to bring it to your attention?

I have been a fan of your writing for as long as I have been able to understand it. My brother, sister and I don’t agree on much, but we agree on you. After the show we noticed just how much your writing has influenced our everyday vocabulary and mannerisms.

It was a genuine pleasure and the realisation of a dream to see French and Saunders on Saturday night in Sydney. I could never have imagined the night to be better than that. After the show though, we were walking to our car, and by accident, we passed the stage door. Our meeting you and the beautiful Dawn was a chance happening that will never be forgotten.

I’m not sure that you will remember. I am the girl in the wheelchair with whom you took the “French and Saunders sandwich” photo on Saturday night. I know that you receive my thoughts in the spirit in which they are intended, that when there is little for me to laugh about, or when the pain comes, my family and I find laughter and relief in Ab Fab, and bless, more recently Jam & Jerusalem.

Again thank you for the photo, the autograph, and the chat. I guess I am writing to say I am so grateful that you and Dawn would come out of your way for me.

I saw French and Saunders at The Capitol Theatre on Wednesday night- How excited the 3 of us were.

I had booked the tickets ages ago and got pretty good tickets.

I have to say despite how big a fans we all are :( It was all very pantomime and really not worth the $165 a ticket price...

Weigh this up against the cost of some of the acts/shows out here at the moment and you have to say the price is extortion for 2 x 40 minute sets.

The show was very "Pantomime" but entertaining..

Did I get my monies worth?

I got my ticket through the Mastercard Moments pre-sale for the first Melbourne show. I have been a huge fan for so many years now, I have seen everything these ladies have done. I surprised my friend Sarah with a ticket after finding out she missed out on a ticket. We have been having French and Saunders nights, and are counting down the days, only 6 days to go.
Meeting these wonderful ladies would really top it off.

Just saw your matinee show in Brisbane - very poor. Whilst you have a terrific history of entertainment, I thought that the show was lazy, dull, and generally unfunny.Not what I had expected or paid for. Sorry

Sorry to say that I think I wasted money on my ticket to last night's show. It was So Very Average. They are great comedians in their own right, but the show had me dozing off.

Saw you in Brisbane on Sunday, 12th July and was very disappointed. You should have projected yourselves on the side 2 screens so the audience in the back could see your face expressions, maybe that would have been funnier. Everyone that we spoke to coming out of the show was very disappointed. Defin not worth the money which is such a shame as you are 2 very brilliant comedians. At least my mum will remember her 60th bday present......thanks anyway!!!

We also saw you in Brisbane and I totally agree with Kim's comments. The venue just was not the right place and then not using the screens seemed strange as we could not see your facial expressions at all.

I enjoyed the show as I love both of you, but was pretty disappointed bearing in mind the cost. I think another venue would have been much better.

No wonder Dawn is moving to Cornwall to buy a house and die.

What a whining bunch of wankers we have here in Australia. It's not bad enough that we have the tall poppy syndrome - we also have the highly critical gen y, never heard of them til me Mum told me about them bloggers.

Do you realise that they have been doing this for 30 years - they could have packed up shop, said screw ya and gone to macca piccu with their families. Or something that they actually would want to do.

I am still grateful for their act. It's funny you know - I found the stage production very similar to their tv series..sss.ssss. So am not sure what you all think it was missing??.

I purchased much of your memorabilia as promised to myself and this website…actually now it’s my memorabilia - sorry you’re not having it back, not unless you ask nicely for it, and even then you may have hand over some dosh. Yes, It'd be nice if the tickets were cheaper; however I was happy to pay the askin price, as I understand you need to make it worth your while, and I appreciate and respect that you are leading entertainers. You will hear no talk of disappointment from my lips. I’ve just typed the word, but I won’t talk about it, not even in the pub after a few, because I didn’t experience it. Went and saw you girls last night in Brisbane. we were only four seats from the front and can I just say WOW. My friend and I laughed ourselves silly and were glad that we had invested in the extra absorbent incontenience pads!!!! so glad I hid my chocolate to :-). Thanks for sharing your incredible talent. To the girls... Thank you from coming to Brisbane, Australia. Unfortunately we were right at the back of the auditorium and we couldn't see a thing - you were only 5cm tall. They needed to use those projection screens during the show so we could see the facial expressions, as some skits referred to them. I really wanted to see what you looked like live... the only video we got to see was pre-recorded on the screens - a bit saddened by that.

Overall it was wonderful and nice way to remember them both. Thanks for all the laughs in Ab Fab and the Vicar of Dibley. The time went too fast at the live show... why don't you do one more show girls? To two very talented performers - we say thank you (and a big thank you for coming to Australia!)

I didn't make your show, alas, but I 'dig' your sense of comedy - and watch whatever I can with either or both of you in it. I wish my daughter could meet you - she's a hopeful actor but has yet to find a break in the market.

What a bitter sweet moment for all of us! I had the pleasure of watching you last night in Brisbane. As the final sketch zipped to a close I found myself with a small tear in the corner of my eye. Saw your show Monday 13 in Brissey. Was sooo looking forward to a good laugh, which we got. We travelled far from rural QlD to cack ourselves!! I do however agree with a few of the earlier comments. It would have been good to have the big screens projecting you so those of us not fortunate enough to get good seats could have seen what was going on, specially your facial expressions. It was a little too short as well, did not feel like we got our monies worth. All in all you are very entertaining and good luck to you both, will keep watching all your different shows. Love your humour, sorry but a little disapointed in the show,feel it was a little lazy.

Bought my tickets very early for Brisbane show, and eagerly awaited your arrival. Due to circumstances, could not attend, so my memorabilia is two unused Preferred Seating tickets. What Planet were you on Laura? I was at the show last night and thought it was very well put together. We laughed all the way through and at the end I thought I was gonna die laughing with tears and mascara running down my face. Let me preface this by saying my wife and I are both huge Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders fans. The Melbourne show last night (16/07) was one of the most lame comedy nights we've ever attended. Not once during the first half of the show did we once manage much more than a smirk little alone a smile or a laugh. It was so unfunny we decided to leave during the interval and head home, we weren’t the only ones. My wife made the comment as we headed back to the car that she felt we had been taken for fools and ripped off. If only we could get our money back.

I am HUGE fans of French and Saunders and wasn't at all disappointed last night in St Kilda (16/7). Laughed 'til I ached at many sketches and adored the Mamma Mia video. Saw you at Albert Hall years ago and loved you then as much as I do now. You are the best female Comedy Partners in history, not only talented individually but dynamite when you're together. Thank you for all the laughter you have given me over the years. It was a privilege to see you on your last tour - you were Absolutley Fabulous! You will be missed but thank god for re-runs and DVD's! Enjoy retirement!

Off to see the show tonight at The Palais. I've been waiting 20 years for this. Taking my copy of Dear Fatty to sign. Hope the girls will be a stage door after the show!!!!

Responding to Matthew of Melbourne - if you want to meet the gals, I suggest you go to the stage door at the end of the night. We went last night to the Palais, and they came out to meet those waiting and were quite happy for photos and autographs. They are awesome!

Mags, Its obvious French & Saunders have a very loyal fan base. Unfortunately loyalty has made some fans blind to the rubbish that was served up on the 15th. We have been to plenty of shows all sorts of styles and never sat though something that disappointing before. In fact we have never not enjoyed a show before. We did have a lovely couple of days in Melbourne, the Taxi driver was even funny. So step back and have a hard look at what you laugh at. We really thought we would love this show, we went because we normally enjoy there work.

I went to the show on the 16th July at the Palais - St Kilda, with my husband. We loved every single minute of the show. I left with mascara and tears of laughter running down my face and my husband with a sore side from laughing so much. I would like to thank Jen and Dawn for signing my program and would like to say to Dawn that she's not the only chocoholic out there and to Jen I loved Eddy.

I saw the Brisbane show the other night, it was a wedding present from friends I worked with in the arts industry and I was embarassed that I had wasted the tickets on such crap seats and a tedious performance. All I could see was the top of Dawn's head. Whoever booked that venue needs their head read. As for the material, that was pretty slack. I've enjoyed your material on TV, but I didn't expect to hand over so much for so little. Sorry to be another discontented voice, but my partner didn't even manage to crack a smile at most of that material.

Just got home from the 18th July Melbourne show and I have to say it was one of the funnist shows I have ever seen. Sure there were some sketches that didn't fire as well as others, but you have to remember, these two comedy LEGENDS are best known for there amazing parodies and send-ups which require hours of make up and staging. To be able to replicate even some of this into a live 80minute show is a minor miracle. To end a fabulous night we waited at the stage door whilst Dawn and Jennifer very graciously signed autographs and had photos with every single person in a howling gale and in the freezing cold - they were doing this for nearly 30 minutes. Very very generous and shows they appreciate their fans and are willing to give something back - two very classy ladies! Enjoy your stay in Australia and thanks for coming here to do your show.

Sat 18th July - You couldn't possibly be a F&S fan and not love the show. It was BRILLIANT! Jen & Dawn were hilariously funny, sharp, their timing was exhilarating, they did not disappoint at all. I didn't expect to but I cried when they left the stage.
Well done to two of the funniest and most brilliant people this planet has ever seen. I can't drink out of my F&S mug because I start laughing every time I pick it up.

I went to the show on the friday in Melbourne. It was a fantastic show! If the wonderful French and Saunders read this I want to say - I was the blubbering stunned girl who you met after the show. What i WANTED to say (if i hadn't been so star struck) is that I am a MASSIVE Vicar of Dibley fan but i also LOVE let them eat cake and Jam and Jerusalem not to mention Ab Fab. Thank-you so much for being in a photo and the autograph. You are both way too photogenic considering you just performed a 2 hour show: singing, dancing, jumping around and being hillarious. Thanks! Went with a group of ardent F&S fans to see them live in Melbourne (July 19th ). These girls are very talented, however their live performance was disappointingly pedestrian. The content was unfunny, lacked creativity and visually the performance was uninteresting - stick to the small screen girls...

I have been viewing this web page for almost 2 years and I am not sure that French and Saunders even have a connection to the site.
But just in case they do, I would like to leave a note regarding Ab Fab on Fox here in the U.S.. Sorry, they let you down. Their loss. And ours. My suggestion to you would be a cable channel instead of a network like Fox, ABC, CBS or NBC, they have to many people they are accountable to. HBO would be perfect or Showtime, I am serious, if you don't believe me ask Tracey Ullman.

Thank you for coming to Australia. You have given my sister and I so much joy and laughter over the last 20+ years. We giggle when quoting lines from various sketches (La Na Nee Nee Noo Noo singing Jimmy Mack is a particular favourite!). You are a part of our life.

I went to the Melbourne shows on Thurs 16th and Sun 19th July. It was superb. I was even more excited to be able to meet you both afterwards at the stage door. You gave your time very generously.

Went to see you last night at Melbourne Palais (21/7) and laughed my socks off. I am from London and feeling a bit homesick, and it was lovely to feel I had someone from home nearby.

I queued outside your stage door to hopefully get my Dear Fatty book signed, but you were whisked away like superstars and I had to suffice with a signed photo instead.

I felt a bit sad I didn't get to meet you, as have followed you throughout your career....n'er mind.

I was so looking forward to F&S Live. Sadly I was disappointed. Before I go on I must stress that I was not disappointed with the girls, they were fantastic and absolutley charming. The issue was for me and my partner the Venue. We had spent months anticipating this night and were disappointed in the Palais Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne. The venue might be good for somethings but not for two girls on a near empty stage whose charm and humour relies so much on their facial expressions. We were so far back it would have been better if we'd stayed at home and watched a DVD of them, and cheaper too. We spent the night looking at two people who may or may not have been French and Saunders, if they weren't so funny they would not have been recognisable from that distance.

Yeah! No more sleeps! Cannot wait to see you ladies tonight.

P.S. Can anyone on this site please let me know....what is with the CHOCKIES!!??

I saw ur show last nite at burswood and absulutely loved it. I'm a huge fan of yours dawn and the tour ticket was my 17th birthday present. I brang a huge block of chocolate to give to u but i was too far away from u wen u came into crowd. I would do anything for a photo with u as ur my mentor. I wish i could of some how goyt backstage to mmet u it would mean the world to me but it didn't happen. Any way loved the show and as im only 17 ur work inspires me and i hope one day i can meet u and give u the block of chocolate i planned on giving u last nite.

Just came from the matinee show at the Adelaide Festival Center. Fantastic production, costume changes, lighting - all spectacular. I can't believe I got to witness you live, the wittiest, smartest people on the planet. I have been a fan of EVERYTHING you've both done. A big, big thankyou to Jennifer and Dawn for bringing their farewell tour to Adelaide. We laughed until we cried and were amazed at their energy levels, considering they were at the end of their time in Australia and were playing 2 shows a day at the Festival Centre in Adelaide.

2 fabulous performers who are still at their peak after 3 decades of performing comedy.

Hopefully the laughter generated from the crowd was a just reward for these 2 icons of comedy....

We have just purchased a big supply of DVD's to saviour the memories.

I was exceptionally "blessed" to be sitting 3 rows back at your performance last night. I laughed and cried at your incredible show and went through an entire pack of Tena! But then I also cried at the end of the show, so sad the wonderful, rare talent of French & Saunders is almost to a close. I have followed you for 30 wonderful years, and I have to say that your humour has got me through some of life's darker moments - for that I thank you. I was absolutely in awe to be sitting so close to my 2 favourite comedians of all time - it was surreal. You are both true geniuses, your energy levels incredible, your comedy so timeless and hilariously funny, and you are both absolutely stunningly beautiful. We are 2 gals from the Riverland in South Australia, and we travelled 4 hours to Adelaide to see Dawn and Jennifer in their First and Final Farewell Tour in Australia.
What a show it was - they are so funny and such lovely friendly people too. We loved the inclusion of Mama Mia and the ABBA stint prior to interval, plus to 2 taxi drivers at the end. This had everyone in stithes............
Thanks for coming to Adelaide and we wish you both all the best for your future acts, as we are sure there are still plenty of laughs in these 2 performers.

I was extremely lucky to be able to get tickets for the Adelaide French And Saunders show. I'm only sixteen and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I was so pumped to here that you two amazing comdeians (and my Idols) were coming to tiny Adelaide.

My family moved out here around four years ago from the south of England (near Bournemouth where my Mum had previously seen one of your fantastic shows) and watching your show made me long for home.

The entire show from start to finish was packed with laughs and I was ecstatic to see that you included the pilot for Ab Fab.

I have nearly all of your DVD's and French And Saunders At the Movies is by far the best.

I also hope Dawn's new BBC show, Psychoviille, will be aired here down under (that would be fantastic)

Thankyou for including Adelaide in your tour and I will remember your show forever (haha).

I went to the final show 2 nights ago here in Adelaide and it was PHENOMENAL! I am still AMAZED that I was in the same room as my hero, Jennifer Saunders... and of course Dawn French in a close second :D I cried when they came on stage I was so excited! A brilliant job well done... you have brought so much laughter and happiness into my life for the last 20 years of my life, and for 30 years altogether, and I am forever grateful. My mother and I went to see you show tonight at Auckland's Civic Theatre, here in New Zealand.

I am at a loss of words to describe how enjoyable we both found it. Though having seen you previous sketches, as well as the 'Still Alive' tour previously on DVD, I was in more hysterics than I was when watching it to begin with.

We thoroughly enjoyed your show, as I'm sure the rest of the audience did. I would have loved to meet you guys, or had a photo taken/signed the entire series set. Pity that couldn't have happened, which is understandable and expected but I tried! (Security people said no, lol).

Regardless, your show was an brilliant experience for me and am very lucky to have seen you having moved from the UK years ago. Still a Brit (and Welshie) at heart so it was fantastic news for me to hear you'd be coming down to NZ. Not such a forgotten country after all! Being only 20, I also find that, though I wasn't particularly part of the generation when you first burst onto the scene, I must say I'm truly lucky to have had the chance to see you both live on stage for the first and last time.

I grew up watching and loving French and Saunders, both ladies are awesome and are role models to me in a massive way. I am so delighted to be going to see the Live show in Auckland tonight, very exciting I cannot wait to see my idols live on stage, it will be something I never forget! :-)

TICKETS!! MONEY!! PASSPORT!!

Before your show, in Adelaide, my 13 year old friend Harmony and I tried to get backstage. I had performed there with my choir a couple times before, so I tried to remember which way to go. We came close but some security guys saw us so we did a runner.
We found our mums after and they asked us where we were. We had to say that we were just looking around. Thats the truth, kinda.

It's a week(ish) later and I'm still smilin'.

3 of us saw Dawn & French at Burswood theatre - we left at intermission so disappointed - not because of the girls! We bought A class seats at $160 each. We could not even see half of the screen, which was a very big part of the show. We missed a lot of the humour as we could not see the screen. We took pics and reported this to the venue, but looks like it has fallen on deaf ears. Our tickets should have been sold as "restricted viewing" which we would never have purchased. So sad as it was their last show!

Well what a bugger you2 are throwing in the towel and not doing anymore traveling shows and denying the rest of the world your live performance presence .
I am of the same age, height, weight(at varying stages),mindset(at varying stages) and would like to know what on earth you2 are going to do?
While you2 were still actively out and about, there always seemed hope for woman of our sameness. Just when we are at an age when we can relax more there isn't a hell of a lot of events to go to that suits our agenda of middle-aged womanness comedy.
I have loved you Girls forever and hope to see you2 in whatever activities you choose to pop up in (minus the live shows:( )although i hope they are not too few and far between.
Remember if you don't use it, it will shrivel up and drop off.

Its almost been six months since I saw you in Adelaide. That was without doubt the best day of my life. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, except for the end when we all stood up cheering for more. I will forever remember that day.

I'm so disappointed you'll be going your separate ways. You're both so funny and you're hilarious together. We can't get all your shows in the states, but I hope to collect them on DVD soon.
