I really don't know where to start, i have read this book from cover to cover and i still cannot put into words how it's made feel, but i'm gonna give it a bloody good go.

It has to be the biggest roller coaster of a ride i've ever been on reading a book. I've sat in starbucks and made a right arse of myself, laughing one minute out loud and then having to get a napkin the next because there are tears rolling down my face, and I mean i'm proper blubbering. It's intimate, heart warming, harrowing, hysterical and most of all you get Dawn French giving so much of herself away, emotionally and personally in only a way Dawn French can.

The letter she writes to Len starting on page 303, has to be the most wonderful thing ever put on paper (and i've read a lot of Austen so that is saying a lot). It just shows that there are perfect marriages. She is the most understanding and loyal person i think i've ever had the pleasure of not meeting, if only we all had a friend/partner like her the world would be a better place.

So i guess i really want to say thank you!! If you ever read this Dawn i really mean it, thank you for the most wonderfully funny and heart warming/breaking read of this modern age.....I will be reading it again.

I just wanted to somehow thank Dawn for this book and to say how sorry I was to hear that her wonderful Nan was burgled recently. I have been in Bristol hospital with my son for 2 months, this was his 33rd operation and his most serious. I read this book and I laughed out loud, I cried, I even sobbed in places but it kept me sane throughout my hospital stay. I live in Bodmin in Cornwall and my 3 children were born in Plymouth so I also had the local knowledge of the various places mentioned in the book which helped my visualize outside the hospital walls... I can't thank her enough for making a terrible time bearable for me, I'm even writing this on Christmas day! That's how much I appreciate it. Thanks Dawn it's a masterpeice. Mwaaaaaaaa xx

Thank you, Dawn

As the Birth Grandmother, of a baby who was adopted 12 years ago, who never stops thinking of her with out love, emotion, a hurt inside like no other, the words you wrote to Billy was are so personal, moving and yet reasuring that the birth family are not monsters, we had to support and protect our daughter with her decision, she is not forgotten, as my daughter has moved forward with her life, she has a fab husband who knows all about her.
Thank you
Annie

I received your book for Christmas as my Mum knew I have always been a big fan, but got the shock of my life when I read it.

I lost my Dad when I was 18 in very similar circumstances and your letter to him at the beginning of your book articulated all the things I have not been able to say.

I can't thank you enough for putting into words things I don't think I have the skill to express.

I loved you book and it made me laugh my socks off with its honesty and the lovely picture of two bunnies wandering into Dibley.

Thank you so much.

Hi Moo,
I recieved your book for Christmas. What a wonderful story. I am sure that most people believe that because you are a celebrity, that you must have lived a charmed life when in fact you have faced some tough times.

Your letters to your dad were so moving and it must have been hard sharing that with us.

I have always been a huge fan but this has made me love you more.

I saw you in Aberdeen last year at the French and Saunders show. This was a dream come true after watching you for years on the tv. The show was great.

Keep being funny Dawn, we all love you.

Oh My God!! I have just seen that you are coming to Australia and I am beside myself. I am just about to finish Dear Fatty and I have just loved it. While having been a fan for a long, long, long time, the book has been fabulous. I have loved the funny bits as well as the not so funny but very brave bits. My husband has even had a chuckle as he always wants to know what I am laughing at and I have to read the funny bits to him. Thank you it has been encouraging for me to be happy in my skin.

I will be one of the laughing hoards in the audience in Australia but I will have my well worn Dear Fatty in my bag in the remote hope of getting close enough to you to have it signed. That may be the highlight of my life - of course, after my children and husband.

Thank you for it all.

PS. I have a Moo too but she is only 6.

Thanks Dawn I'm half way through your book - I cant help but read it with your voice and all your intonations and expressions as I read - you are such a wordsmith, we SOOOO would have been friends in school - Terrys chocolate orange, pet monkeys, though I wasnt aware of the ear buggery -that would have turned me off too.

I am so wrapt that you and Jennifer are coming to melbourne, The Palais in St Kilda is a wonderful venue and I know nothing can erase that disgusting memory you have from that taxi driver when you were in Adelaide - come to Melbourne and let us show you how much we love you and that we are not at all tarred with the same brush

I too will bring my book with the very slim hope of maybe, possibly getting an autograph - Oh my actual God - that too would make my year!!!!

Sigh, relief, breathe......Dear Moo, so very happy to have secured a ticket for your show in Auckland, the extra show that is, the other 3 nights sold out in a flash. Live in Napier and so travelling up to Auckland with my BF. The BF who I have met since moving to NZ 6 years ago from Manchester, BF is from Wimbledon and we have such the same sense of humour, girls laugh together don't they? We are both sooooooooooo excited, what perfect timing especially as we have just read Dear Fatty, a thrilling read, could associate with lots and lots..being the same age as you. Hilarious at times, very soulfull at others. Decided to read it after seeing a guy on a flight to Aussie reading it and he was LOL...good to see.
By the way girls....Mamma Mia was brilliant, can't stop watching it...miss Comic Relief so much, watch as much as I can on You Tube..
Anyway, anyway, anyway...........take care and look forward to seeing you lovely ladies in August.
Take care
